Campus and Local Resources

YSUnity: LGBTQIA
YSU's student organization that promote awareness of issues related to LGBTQIA students and provides a supportive and welcoming safe place for all LGBTQIA students and staff. They work to create a more welcoming campus for the students of the LGBTQIA community though campus activism, education, and events.
Youngstown Area PFLAG
Mission Statement: PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual persons through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; advocacy, to end discrimination and secure equal rights.
BRAVO Anti-Violence Organization
The Buckeye Region Anti-Violence Organization (BRAVO) provides comprehensive individual and community programs for survivor advocacy and support to LGBTQI survivors of hate and bias violence, discrimination, intimate partner violence, stalking, and/or sexual assault.
Equality Ohio
Equality Ohio’s work is broad and focuses on multiple aspects of LGBTQ equality in Ohio. A primary issue of Equality Ohio’s is a lack of inclusion of LGBTQ people in the laws that make discrimination illegal in Ohio. In addition to working on nondiscrimination, Equality Ohio engaged in policy work to patch up a lack of inclusive laws.
