Finding Books in MaagNet Catalog

From the center of Maag's home page, select MaagNET and then use the left-side Search Options to select Advanced Keyword so multiple terms are searched simultaneously, such as author and title and subject.

Start by using Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) for a more specific search.  Use the first drop-down box, select LC Subject and enter one of the following two search: mathematics -- history  [Because LCSH are precise, enter the search exactly as shown, that is, Mathematics space dash dash space History]

To find books of references, bibliographies, enter:  Mathematics -- Bibliography

MaagNet Advanced Keyword Search

The call number for Mathematics (that is, where the book is located on the shelves) begins with “QA.” The history of mathematics books are usually found in the QA20 range and are located on floor 5A.  If the call number is preceded by “Ref,” the item is located in the Reference Room on the main floor and can be used, but does not circulate.

Note the item’s Call Number and Location, then check the Building Guide to find the exact location.

Once an item has been selected, copy or print the publication information (author, title, publisher, date) found on the title page of the book or from the catalog record so the item can be properly cited later. For assistance in creating Works Cited or Bibliographic References pages refer to our Citation Guide.
